Description

This two-part course provides learners with foundational knowledge of infection prevention and control in non-acute care settings, with an emphasis on two specific environments: (1) residential congregate settings, and (2) high-throughput ambulatory settings. The program will explore the critical, bidirectional educational gap between facility operations and health science educational programs. Through a deeper understanding of these environments, healthcare providers can collaborate with stakeholders in congregate and high-throughput ambulatory settings to establish best practices as a preferred alternative to doing only the minimum required to avoid regulatory citations.

Healthcare-Associated Infection Metrics: Are Definitions and Benchmarks the Same Everywhere?

National benchmarks, standardized infection ratios (SIRs), and standardized infection definitions are commonly used metrics in acute care settings; however, they have different implications in post-acute care. This webinar will review available data sources for comparison outside of the hospital setting. The session will also explore potential challenges and benefits, as well as the facility burden associated with a more robust reporting system.
