Antibiotic Awareness Week

U.S. Antibiotic Awareness Week is an annual one-week observance that gives organizations an opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of appropriate antibiotic use to combat the threat of antibiotic resistance. SHEA is pleased to host a Webinar during this week moderated by SHEA President, Hilary Babcock, on recently released tools to address antibiotic resistance. The Webinar will feature a presentation by Arjun Srinivasan, MD, FSHEA, Captain, USPHS, Associate Director for Healthcare Associated Infection Prevention Programs, Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The program will focus on recent updates made to the CDC’s Core Elements of Hospital Antibiotic Stewardship Programs guidance used for successful implementation of antibiotic stewardship programs within hospitals as well as current antibiotic resistant threats facing patients. After his presentation, Tamar Barlam, MD, MSc, current vice chair and 2020 chair of SHEA’s Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee, will join for a discussion on the importance of the Core Elements in practice and other elements shaping the future of stewardship.

A recording of the Webinar will be available on LearningCE if you are unable to join live.
