Clean Environment

The environment plays a role as a reservoir for transmission of pathogens that cause healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). The healthcare environment includes all the inanimate objects in the hospital, from a stethoscope to the bedside table. All healthcare personnel are responsible for maintaining a clean environment. In this course, the participants will gain understanding of the “who, what, and how” of environmental cleaning.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Identify, acknowledge, and participate in your role to maintain a clean environment
  2. Recognize the different aspects involved in the surface cleaning, including type of disinfectant amount, material compatibility, and contact time
