Diagnostic Stewardship Programs: From Concept to Implementation

Description

Infectious Diseases Diagnostic Stewardship Programs (DSPs) strive to improve patient outcomes by fostering interdisciplinary cooperation in the optimization of infectious diagnostic test ordering, collection, processing, and interpretation. Currently, there is insufficient guidance on establishing these programs, highlighting the need for a set of benchmark metrics and playbooks for implementation that are appropriate for individual institutions. This course will highlight essential DSP concepts, review the new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) core elements for diagnostic excellence, and explore various approaches to establishing DSPs in healthcare institutions.
