Models for Diagnostic Stewardship Programs

January 26, 2026

Description

Diagnostic Stewardship Programs (DSPs) have gained significant attention in healthcare settings as a means to optimize diagnostic tests and improve patient outcomes. Successful DSPs often incorporate multidisciplinary teams, including clinicians, laboratory professionals, and infectious disease specialists, to develop and implement evidence-based guidelines for appropriate test ordering, collecting, processing, and reporting. Despite their potential benefits for patient care and HAI prevention, there are no current requirements for DSP. This session will focus on three different programmatic approaches to integration of DSP into hospital operations.
